Shepton Pre-School News
April 2010 Update
The recent Wine and Wisdom evening was a great success and a very enjoyable evening. Thank you to all who supported this event and helped in anyway, we made a fantastic sum of £630 for Pre-School funds. Well done one and all!
The term has been a very busy one and the children have enjoyed exploring the topic of Our Bodies and Keeping Healthy. They enjoyed a visit from a local Doctor who let them listen to their heart beats, check their blood pressure and showed them different instruments used to check their throats and ears!
Our Wellie Walks have been great fun and although we will be still going out and about during the Summer Term we will be practising changing for P.D. in preparation for school and our Summer Sports Day on 13th June. The visit to the Butchers shop was very successful and “A BIG Thank You” must go to Brian and Jean of the village Butchers for making us so welcome. Brian showed us how he makes the sausages going through the whole process for us and let us all take some home to sample.
The Easter holidays is a good time for a sort out and with that in mind don't forget our Bags2School collection on 27th April. Bags can be dropped off at the village hall during term time. Watch out for posters and bags.
March also saw one very important visitor - The OFSTED inspector! She has given us a glowing report rating us as “Good” overall with many “Outstanding” aspects.

The Easter holidays are now upon us and we have had a really busy term. The children have been looking at “things that grow” planting their own seeds and looking at the Spring flowers and buds on our Wellie Walks including doing our own planting at the Cowleaze Meadow.
We were lucky enough to find swans and ducks on the pond at Wash Cross on our walk one week and found plenty of puddles and got very wet! “Animals we find in our garden” has been another focus and we enjoyed going on a bug hunt and looking closely at them through a magnifying glass then making some of our own out of clay and playdough and have painted some very colourful butterflies and caterpillars.
We will be starting our regular visits to the village school after Easter, but the children have already been visiting showing the school children their books they made during their favourite book week. Also joining in with the school children's food week was great fun as we got to help the older children make lunch and eat it!
Thank you to all who supported our Wine and Wisdom evening, it was another great success, the village hall was packed to capacity. Well done to everyone that took part and to all the parents who helped prepare for the event and those that helped during the evening itself.
Our next fund raising event will be a stall at the Village Easter Market, hope to see many of you there. For further information about our Pre-School please contact us on the above number

We are now into the last term of the school year and time just seems to fly by. The children had great fun slip sliding away for their marathon sponsored slide and we are hoping to have raised enough money to by our new matting for the group. The older children are now making weekly visits to the village school in preparation for September so that they become familiar with the surroundings, the children and the staff.
Preparation has started for our Summer fun and sports day which will take place on 8th June. The children are practising their running races and are having plenty of outdoor fun whatever the weather! The committee will hopefully be holding another Wine and Wisdom evening again in July - so if anyone enjoys a good quiz watch this space for details. January 2017 News
Pre School News - January 2017
Happy New Year! We are delighted to be welcoming some new children to our Pre 3 sessions this term and are sure they will settle into the Pre School life very happily. Our older children are spending more time with us so we continue to be kept busy.
This term we will continue to work through the alphabet and start with the letter K, we are expecting Kangaroos and Kings but are sure the children will come up with some other slightly more random ideas during Show and Tell!
We are planning to resurrect the Wine and Wisdom Quiz Night as our big fundraiser with Shepton School this term and a Pancake Breakfast amongst other things. Our Crafty Christmas Morning was busy and fun and we used some of the money raised towards the Christmas Party.
Toddler Group - The first get together in the new year will be Thursday 5th January - babies, toddlers and pre school children and parents/carers very welcome at anytime during the morning for crafts, play and singing.
