+====== Rogation Day Walk Sunday 29th May ======
+For many centuries it was the custom of the Lords' of the Manor to ride around the boundaries of their lands, “beating the bounds”.   In many areas it became the custom for villagers to walk around the boundaries of their parishes, starting with prayers and finishing with a service and picnic at church.
 +
+We thought we'd give this a try this year, so the plan is …....
+ 1.   everyone to meet at their own church – the Wardens will lead some simple prayers.\\                                                                        2.   from each church walkers proceed through the parish and all meet up at Kingstone  church.\\
+ 3.   at 11.30am there will be a Communion Service – outside if the weather is ok – followed by a “bring your own picnic”.\\
+ 4.   because each parish is a different distance from Kingstone, there will need to be a different time for the prayers to allow time for the walk.   The Wardens will advertise  this.\\
+ 5.   Chillington is our smallest parish so I will lead prayers there, starting at 10.30am.\\
+ 6.   Kingstone has been chosen as the meeting point because the only place to see all of our eight parishes is from the top of its tower – the tower will be open on the day, so bring your camera!\\
 + 7.    Well behaved dogs are welcome!\\
+//God of the guiding star, the bush that blaze:show us your way.\\
+God of the stormy seas, the bread that nourishes; teach us your truth\\
+God of the still, small voice, the wind that blows where it chooses;        fill us with life.\\
+God of the elements, of our inward and outward journey:\\
+set our feet on your road today.\\
+May God bless us with a safe journey.   Amen.\\
 +
+==== The Prayer of the Ancients!( ====
+Sent in by young Freddy Greenop of Ilminster)\\
 +Lord, Thou knowest I am growing older.\\
+Keep me from becoming talkative and possessed with the idea that I must express myself on every subject.    Release me from the craving to straighten out everyone's affairs.    Keep me from the recital of endless detail.    Give me wings to get to the point.
 +
+Seal my lips when I am inclined to tell of my aches and pains: they are increasing with the years and my love to speak of them grows sweeter as time goes by.
 +
+Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be wrong.   Make me thoughtful but not nosey; helpful but not bossy.    With my vast store of wisdom and experience it does seem a pity not to use it all but Thou knowest Lord, that I want a few friends at the end.    Amen.
 +
 +==== Confirmation ====
+As infants many of us are baptised/christened, and during that service our parents and god-parents make promises to help us to explore the Christian faith.    When we are older, many of us chose to take these promises on ourselves and “Confirmation” is the service where we do this....we confirm our desire to continue the work begun at baptism, in exploring the faith of Christ.
 +
+The process involves attending four “teaching” sessions with me and then attending the Confirmation Service where the candidates are “Confirmed” by the Bishop.
 +
+The annual Confirmation Service this year is to be held on the evening of 7th July.   If anyone is interested in this, would they please contact me; if you have not been baptised/christened then there are still ways of being Confirmed – again, please see me; thank you.\\
