 +====== Christmas ======
 +Rev’d Chloe Kingdon writes……
 +
 +It seems to be the lot of a vicar – to anticipate the changing seasons and prepare for the next one before the current one has begun - and so I find myself writing this Christmas message on the same day my sermon for All Saints is securing itself in my brain. I know there is no choice, Advent must be swallowed up a little by Christmas, otherwise schools, and colleges would not get the chance to celebrate, Christmas TV programmes would not be recorded, and let’s be honest, presents would not get under the tree;  but I do worry that the desire to begin Christmas before Bonfire night is a sign that on the whole we are not good at waiting.
 +
 +How many of us have switched from one supermarket checkout to an-other in the futile hope that we can move more quickly? Have you ever stuck rigidly to a 30mph speed limit and chuckled as people overtake you in a furious bid to get stuck behind a tractor 3 seconds before you do.  Can you imagine writing a letter and waiting a week for a reply?? People get twitchy now if emails are not responded to within the hour.
 +If this is how we live, what possible chance has God got of getting a word in edgeways as we prepare for Christmas?  The prospect of Christ coming amongst us is huge, but guests need to prepared for – think of the chaos in your kitchen half an hour before a guest comes for a meal, and the embarrassment when they turn up early.  A visit can really be spoiled by not being prepared.
 +So let us this year, try to be ready for Jesus to come at Christmas, so that we can just for once, live in the present moment, and celebrate the most wonderful gift that God gave us, in his Son.
 +
 +May I wish you all a wonderful and blessed Christmas, and may God find you prepared for his coming.   Chloe x
